I suppose since 6A came into the picture, you have a good point.

I can barely read the comments on the latest news point faster than they're being posted, at the moment.

I get the impression that we had one of our semi-regular Six-Apart-Alienates-Damn-Nigh-Everyone, but might I ask what happened this time?

Well, uncacreamy posted a pointer to an entry by stonedtodeath, and it seems to sum up the overall situation moderately well.

I think he missed one major bit in translation, though: this isn't a case of "someone else came and compacted the cars and arrested folks", it is a case of "*the store* did this, because they believed they had to in order to be in compliance with the law". Sort of changes the expectations one has of the store, in terms of appropriate behavior, in my view at least.

Short version: 6A changes the code so that suspended users are shown in plain bold, no icon nor strikethrough, and then deletes several journals for slashy but apparently overage HP fanart with no warning and no appeals.

Fandom goes nuts again.

Thanks, folks. Oy oy oy oy oy, why are they always picking these stupid minor fights with random people just indulging in a silly hobby?

Probably because 6A received a 'Cease and Desist' order from some lawyer affiliated with JK Rowling (amazing how often she's suing people to protect her intellectual property' now that she's rich beyond the dreams of avarice...money does seem to change people doesn't it?) and had a knee jerk reaction to it, deleted some journals without even asking people to remove the items, which makes NO sense and had the predictable result...happens all too often, using a howitzer to solve a problem when a better worded email would do the trick.

6A has admitted that the problem was depiction of sexual situations that involved a minor, not a copyright issue. Of course, most of the folks who've looked at the art (myself included) see no minor in the image.

Re: Unrelated

Hrm. It is? I've been getting some replies, at least, and been sending updates...you could try emailing my lj address or if that's also not working, try my deb at pobox dot com account.

What kind of errors are you getting?
