I think I understand why I'm a morning person.

See, I get stupid around 10 pm, usually. Generally I then go to bed, because I'm too brain-dead to stay up anymore.

Thus, I wake up reasonably early. I have trouble staying up past my get-stupid point; even if I don't go lay down, I tend to be the walking dead and mostly asleep on my feet anyway.

Being on stimulant drugs has meant that I haven't gotten completely stupid, so I don't have the trigger to go to bed...and so I've stayed up insanely late quite a bit lately. Including until 5 am at least once.

And it's meant that my natural disinclination to go to bed is winning over tiredness, and so I haven't been getting enough sleep. Suddenly I'm not much of a morning person, imagine that.

I've changed the time I'm taking my doses again. That seems to be helping a little bit, we'll see.

It's really hard to make myself go to bed when other people are still up and I am not dead-tired. Hell, it's hard to make myself go to bed when other people go to bed but don't make a point of inviting me and I am not dead-tired.

I'm weird about that.

Just to be contrary, naps are fine. There's just something about going to bed.

I generally set my morning dose for about an hour *before* I plan to get up. Get up, take pills, go back to sleep. Then the pills kick in and I wake up in a way that resembles, I imagine, how normal people usually wake up. By evening, things have well and truly worn off and sleep isn't a problem.

Then again, I 'normally' sleep 11-13 hours a night, so YMMV.

Re: t. rev

I don't have troubles in the morning, and I do have a lot of trouble in the evenings, so I was trying taking 'em at noon and 4. I've shifted back to 10 and 2 now, and that seems to be working a little better. I'm actually wanting to sleep at a reasonable time again... Hopefully that'll last.

BED IN SUMMER
(Robert Louis Stevenson)
In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle-light.
In summer, quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.

I have to go to bed and see
The birds still hopping on the tree,
Or hear the grown-up people's feet
Still going past me in the street.

And does it not seem hard to you,
When all the sky is clear and blue,
And I should like so much to play,
To have to go to bed by day?
