Ys [userpic]
I'm sure you've seen this by now, but still.

No Pity. No Shame. No Silence.

Just...yeah. I am not personally a survivor of sexual violence, but I know way too many who are. Men and women. Young and old. Black and brown and yellow and red and sort of peach-colored and and and.

Here and here got me thinking about this.

I think misia is right. It needs to be said. I'm saying it too.

Our society considers violence to be normal, particularly sexual violence. That doesn't make it okay.

If you've been hurt, it's not your fault.

It's not something to be quiet about.

You'll get no pity from me, just comfort.

You'll get no shame from me, just acceptance.

You'll get no silence from me.

Edit: I am a survivor of a variety of violence. Just never had to deal with the sexual form. I consider myself very lucky.

Current Mood: indescribableindescribable

And we still managed to be powerful sexual beings, neh? Good for us.
