'Cuz, well, I agree. And I'm a lemming.

Marriage is love.

Current Mood: lovedloved

It was neat to have a whole screen's worth of those things in my friendslist this morning. ^_^

You know those people who support a "civil union" instead of marraige for gay people? I always want to go and slap them.

The current "marriage" in the US is a civil union, it's just that priests have been given the ability to notarize marriage certificates. In a lot of other countries, you fill out the documents for a civil union, drop them off at the courthouse, and the next day have the "wedding", which doesn't mean anything legally, but is important emotionally.

I'm in favor of turning all marriages into a civil union, which would be a statement of intent to run a household together. After all, if you're going to be opening a joint checking account, and taking care of kids, you should be able to visit one another in the hospital and etc. If you want to go and have a gigantic catholic wedding afterwands, go ahead, nobody's stapping you. Such a civil union would also be usefull for heterosexual people who wish to "rebel" against the typical marriage and just live together.
