This is an excellent analysis, which much more formally says much of what I was saying in my last post.

Basically what it means is that American society and culture have moved to the point where an aggressive, warmongering, socially conservative President can win elections *because* he is an aggressive, warmongering, socially conservative President, even if his actual policies are spectacular failures even as warmongering goes.

I'm not sure what you mean by "that statement".

The entire point of the article is that 59 million people felt Bush deserved to be re-elected, and that people need to understand why.

Perhaps you're agreeing vehemently?
